Meh... imo it's cluttered.

IMO, and get that it may just be my personal opinion. I think it sounds cluttered, and the relationship between the bass and the kick is just awfull, i mean this is JUST like hearing a song from you 6 months ago. It seems as if you have just seized to evolve as a musician but maybe more as an FL user, an electronic musician would be the best term. Because its the same synth from which sound i dont even have to ask what VSTi it is from, and its the SAME god damn problem ive been telling you that you have since like last autumn.

Kick/Bass - The kick is way too much punch and high end, there are so many high frequencies that, honestly it sounds like 4 pitched kicks with a sub boost or something. A tip is to make sure a kick punches, that it does NOT have too much high frequencies (high end of the para EQ, tweak it down, pl0x), and that it has a fair amount of bass compared to the bass. When you make music in 140BPM+ you have to make sure that the relationship between the bassdrum and the offbeat bass is PERFECT, and, im afraid that in this song/remix or whatever, it gets completely fucking assraped by the volume of the synth and the compression you have done on the kick.

Nice little "bragfest" in the authors comment btw, i also love that you are actually selling your own music, way to go! I had my music up on a personal aounslous page for like 3 weeks before i realised how unbelievably douchy it seemed.

6 out of 10 is the score. 4/10 for having the basics in, and 6/10 because if i gave it a 4/10 this review would get banned by whoever it is keeps mass voting and mass whoring your songs (YOU!)

Thank you for your time.

Absolutely love it, really brings out your talent.

You told me you made this while puffing the magic dragon, and wowie believe me it shows. And i ACTUALLY dont mean that in a bad way, i've been told creativity comes with it actually.

And i mean wow, the intro is just fantastic, you really made the piece pop with those very silent kind of filtered bell/sine pads of yours. Magical i guess would be the most appropriate word to describe the intro.

You keep following it up with great perc work that just make this piece very deep and thoughtfull. Your really did well on keeping it within the genre, AMBIENT. Too many people these days think ambient should have a "point", and buildups like hell. WRONG, ambient is AMBIENT, background music, not supposed to drap attention, but enhance an experience.

IMO this piece would go great in a depressive movie, not a bad thing at all. I really picture a movie in style with "Requiem For A Dream", or something simular, displaying life at its lowest.

All in all i love it. From the magic of the sine/bellpads. To the adrupt detail of your percussions... never stop man, im loving what your doing!

Could i give it any lower? Would i defy NG laws to give it higher, haha, yeeeeeeeesz... keep it up man, i absolutely love it! :)

Thank you for your time.

Dude i hear you!

Magic dragon puffing makes me go creative and horny. But mostly the last. x]

Anyways, too much details for a public review already, good job DXM! Thanks for the kind, and especially, the long review. Beatsource reviewingat it's best. I totally agree with you that the sine / bell-ish sounds at the beginning totally make this track. I actually made that as a basic to start off with on my keyboard...

Picture me in a dark room with synthesizer display lights and the Kaoss Pad 3 equalizer, a lava lamp, a visualizer on my TV, and playing that riff with red eyes and a big smile...

Suddenly not so magical, no, but still, the essence surely is in there. x]

And yes! Yes!

AMBIENT IS, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, BACKGROUND MUSIC!

Ambient is made for tripping, tripping is made for ambient, ambient is something that is in the background tingling with your senses, giving you thoughts without actually thinking, making you drift off into unexplored waters of the mind and completely manipulating every emotion in your head based on the freaking emotion of the SONG! XD

People cease to realize that it's not nice to listen to one hour of ambient when every 3 minutes you get into a climax and then into an anti-climax. The flow of the songs and emotions that actually keep going is what really got ME into ambient music, and people saying there is a climax of some sort missing..

Then ambient, kind sir, is no music for you.

And last but not least...

The Percussion <3

I got this new VST that links with drum VST's or drum samples and i highly recommend you to get it. I'll talk to msn about that with yew though.

Thanks for the review man!

BLESS YOU, CHUCK NORRIS!

Love it!

This was really great, really soothing and calming track yet pumped full of energy and especially originality. Love your beat and the synths go well with everything ;) Nice progression and song buildups/breakdowns...

Nice... :)

I really like it, your on your way to grasping this genre forsure hehe. But there were some elements in here i dont quite feel belong...

The drums, really. I think they are a tad to sudden for this particular genre. The clap is very loud, and i think it may be the wrong sample for this genre. The kick is more like modern heavy hip hop, and the hihat line is really disturbing the flow issued by those lovely and soothing pads and background...

I really like how the opening is, something i see really fit for a scene in a movie. Really just a softer beat more integrated with the background flow would do this song wonders, tbh the 9/10 was heavily influenced by the drums interferring too much.

Nice work, work on some softer drums with a tighter kick/hihat/snare to it and filter them down to make them not so big and you will be 1000 steps closer to perfection in yet another genre :)

Thank you for your time, and for trying out something new yet again!

tijnn responds:

I can clearly see why you'd say the drums should've been turned down, or that i should have chosen different drum-riffs.

Well.. Point is, i kinda like them this way (: i tested it out and the song loses it's power without the strong drums since it's so subtle already. You should listen to some more lounge, the drum sections are always heavily filled with poly-rhythmic stuff, so i'm actually going easy on it compared to them, hehe.

As for the kick being too hiphop-ish, yeah, you are right, it's not typical lounge. But i accidentally happened to pick that one, and after trying out a lot of kicks and mastering changes, i fell back to this one. I like the way it sounds, personally.

Thanks for the hint though!

...meh

I dont see it, and the "buy my album" comment didnt help lol, i just dont see the point in why people like you (who are not professional, or not anywhere close to making professional music) would SELL their music... for PROFIT... I just do not see that, sorry.

You use very cheesy basslines, that have been used millions of times and your overall mastering is way to distorted, your leads and basses are weak as hell and your kick is seriously obnoxious...

You just sound like an over eager teenager ripping off basshunter...

Just practice some more before you start SELLING stuff ;P And go easy on the 4/4 to shuffle beat and the note changes, it gets hard to follow and a little tip is to build up to them better!

The mastering: Just make sure its not clipping by carefully moditoring the volume of each sound (especially the kick) and watch out for to much bass and distortion in your EQing.

The kick/bass - download packs like vengeance and such, i advice you to start making your own sounds, but to start out with vengeance at first is a good tip!

Your leads/basses - Nexus, sylenth1, z3ta etc etc. Get VSTis like this and just start playing around, to start learning early in the progress to make your own sounds is a great tip, but Nexus and some presets in the other earlier mentioned VSTis also work sometimes just to make the piece pop out.

Nice! Thanks for review and score dude! :D

Nice :)

Well first off, Charmanizer is probably dumber than his parents, whom judging by his review are brother and sister...

VERY nice piano in the intro, and the melody can turn out real nice, i just think you have to lift the beat a little by adding a more light bass (just raise the 6 and 7 bands of the EQ to lift the overall sound on the bass), cause atm i think its a little to grungy and smudgy for the sound i think your after :)

Very nice so far man, keep it up!
